His Name Was John
The Perrys
A baby boy was born to Zachariah so we're told In unbelief he was stricken for he thought he was too old Then the day arrived when the baby came and he looked upon his son He began to speak - and he wrote these words - it's John - it's John - it's his name - his name is John Chorus And he was John. His name was John He baptized with the water 'til Jesus came along Then the Holy Ghost from Heaven decended like a dove like the prophesy was given by John - he was John - his name was John God saw it all from the eve of time how it was supposed to be First there was John and then God's Son and then there was you and me I can see us all on Jordan's banks when deliverance has come From the welcome there I will hear a voice sayin' John, my name is John
